Lauren, who holds a bachelor’s in social work and a master’s in management, couples her background in social work with a life-long desire to cultivate to provide the highest-quality organic produce and to educate her community about the land and the importance of the food we eat.
Lauren built Bloomsbury Farm from the ground up, and started by selling her organic vegetables and sprouts at area farmers markets. Since those early days in 2009, the farm has expanded, producing a wide array of fresh vegetables, fruits, sprouts, and herbs for the markets, local businesses, and wholesalers in and around Nashville and the greater region.
To be able to walk to work every morning and raise my baby girl with the same love for the earth my parents instilled in me is a true gift.

Richie, a long-time family friend, became part of the Bloomsbury team in 2012. He oversees our food safety practices and helps to manage all other aspects of the farm. Though born in Louisiana, he has called the Smyrna area home for almost thirty years. Prior to the farm, Richie worked as a wildlife ecologist; his love for animals is well-known to all of Bloomsbury's creature kingdom (wild and domesticated alike). Richie, who holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in biology from Middle Tennessee State University, is also an educator at Motlow State Community College. Richie was born with Cystic Fibrosis and underwent a double lung transplant in 2011; he believes it's fresh air and hard work that keep him happy and healthy.
